The Landmark Tower, an impressive commercial and residential center, will be the tallest building in Abu Dhabi, located on the corniche road, next to the British Embassy. The concept of architectural design was developed by Cesar Pelli Associates. EC Harris International are the Project Manager and the Client Representatives and the Supervising Engineers Buro Happold. The Employer, Department of Presidents Affairs, HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During the early stages of the project planning and conceptual design, Bauer International UAE Branch of BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH, was involved in preparing proposals for the specialized geotechnical works, which comprise the excavation of the basement area of the structure, the basement area contains five underground floors for car parking. The technical proposal prepared by Bauer Abu Dhabi and submitted to the project manager and supervising engineer was found competitive and alternative among high ranking specialized foundation contractors due to the advanced techniques of diaphragm walling and ground anchors equipment with very high production rate as well as advanced technical know-how of the execution team. Based on the technical and commercial evaluation Bauer Abu Dhabi was awarded the project and works started in December 2005, to carry out a diaphragm wall of 1.5 m thick wall with 2 layers of anchors and excavation up to -24.5 below ground level. Construction of uplift piles of 750 mm dia and compression piles of 1500 mm dia. and 14.0 m deep under the tower footprint.

The works are being under progress and in line with the construction schedule and expected to complete the enabling works by October 2006.
